1. Did you choose the writing profession or did it choose you?

Once I picked up a pen and learned to write, I began writing stories.  It's always been in me to write.

2. What is your background? (education, work, etc.)

I'm a professional artist.  I'm known for my portraits.

3. When did you 'know' you were a writer?

I always considered myself a writer.

4. How would you describe your style of writing?

My style of writing reflects the way I would verbally tell a story to a live audience.

5. What is your writing process?

Once I get an idea, I grab a Bic pen and notebook and start writing.  After about the second or third sentence, I get into the flow and then I'm lost into my own imagination.  I have no notion of time and place.  I stop when my mind needs a break.  That could be three days later.

6. What was your path to publication?

As with any writer, at first I wrote short stories for myself and then I wrote magazine and newpaper articles. I decided to take it one step further and challenge myself with a novel.  I wrote Magic Men.  The day after that was done, I started Dark Side and once that was done, I wrote 3 more novel length works--all within a two and a half year period.

7. What is your favorite self-marketing idea?

Word of mouth is nothing new, but it's the best sure fire and powerful way of getting the word out that I have something to offer.

8. What are the biggest surprises you've encountered as a writer?

I never realized that dedicated readers are so hard to come by.

9. How do you inspire yourself? What are your sources of creativity?

I get inspiration from people.  I ask questions and I listen with both ears.

10. What is your proudest writer moment?

When I finished the first draft of my first novel--Magic Men.

11. What's the best advice you were given about writing?

Keep reading and writing.

12. What is your most embarrassing writer moment?

I haven't had one yet.

13. What business challenges have you faced as a writer?

Selling books.

14. What is your writer life philosophy?

Get it written first and then go over it with a fine tooth comb.

15. When you're not writing what do you do for fun?

Fun for me is good conversation with family and friends.  If no

one wants to talk, I paint.

16. Who do you like to read?

Science Fiction is my favorite.  I read everything.  I like to alternate.  One week I might read a reference book dealing with physics or astronomy, then I'll read some Horror and then maybe a mainstream fiction.  I pick up the Bible once in a while.  I'm not too big on romance novels.

17. What’s your advice for new writers?

There is nothing new under the sun.  It's all been said and done.

18. What are you currently working on?

I'm editing SUNRISE, a Horror novel length work that I wrote some years back.  I hope to have it out very soon.  Also, I am working on a series of Science Fiction paintings to visually complement my first book, Magic Men.
