1. Did you choose the writing profession or did it choose you? It grabbed me when I was very young.
2. What is your background? (education, work, etc.) Retired police officer, still involved in law, horses and motorcycles.
3. When did you 'know' you were a writer? I'm still not convinced of it.
4. How would you describe your style of writing? Enthusiastic.
5. What is your writing process? Just write, let whatever comes. Tighten it up later.
6. What was your path to publication? Wrote for fun. When I finished Charlie Two Hearts I thought, "Damn this aint bad!"
7. What is your favorite self-marketing idea? Taking my horse to a book signing since he was used as a character in the book.
8. What are the biggest surprises you've encountered as a writer? That I didn't know how to use commas.
9. How do you inspire yourself? What are your sources of creativity? I don't have to I love to type and let words flow. Everything around me inspires me. Scenery, electronic media, background noise and people.
10. What is your proudest writer moment? When I realized I did it for fun. I really enjoy it. I would rather write a book than read one and I love to read.
11. What's the best advice you were given about writing? Write!
12. What is your most embarrassing writer moment? When someone I know thought they were used as a character in my book. They weren't.
13. What business challenges have you faced as a writer? Marketing and getting over being shy about saying, "Look what I did!"
14. What is your writer life philosophy? Write, write, write.
15. When you're not writing what do you do for fun? Think about things to write.
16. Who do you like to read? Westerns, law, mystery, war, horses.
17. What’s your advice for new writers? Write, write and write. Read it later.
18. What are you currently working on? A western and a murder mystery at the turn of the 20th century. |
